The TypewriterGirls

Present:

__

  • Cabaret
  • of the Not-Quite
  • Criminally Insane!

The TypewriterGirls fifth ridiculously decadent delectable debacle of creative energies and id-inspiring impulses will feature bipolar melodies by Sneaky and Mizz J, the schizoid antics of Jason Kirin and The Backwash of Berlioz, and a paranoid delusional dance routine by DH Productions. A not quite criminally insane poetic recitation will be given by Michelle Stoner and the evening will not quite conclude with a long-awaited performance by everyones favorite monkey trainers, Margaret Bashaar and Crystal J Hoffman.
Suggested Donation $3.00
Doors open at 4:30 April 13, 2008?Modern formations

The TypewriterGirls present yet another exquisitely deranged plethora of intelligent (and yes, sometimes frightening) elegantly pornographic poetry, comedy, artwork, music, and dance. . . and this time God demands his say in the matter.

Join the TypewriterGirl ’s battalions, wrangled by Margaret, Crystal, and Jason (all three experienced in the taming of wild monkeys—the only true resume builder in this case,) as they give God himself a smack in the face and a knee in the groin.

Those aiding in the buffeting of our Lord on this Sunday afternoon are battle commanders Jason Kirin and the Kirinettes, who will be craftily entangling the arts of music and poetry in a performance sure to create a net capable of trapping any sly sniper arch-angels;

Mizz J, whose sweet, smooth, and seductive moves, melodies, and metaphors are capable of calming more holy wrath than even the TypewriterGirls can provoke,

Michelle Stoner; a poet with an arsenal of allegorical battle gear and strategic maneuverings so large that they can’t be contained to just one show;

Mary Biddinger, a secret weapon so classy and powerful. . .that one wonders how she got mixed up in all of this;

Dan Shapiro, a man wrapped in such mystery and stealth that neither Typewritergirl nor God can capture him;

Janette Schafer, the poet’s version of the cavalry;

Paul Dvorchak, in true Crossroads style will be doing his battling with guitar in hand;

David Doyle, neither man nor God, will be performing feats of such supernatural talent that the lord himself will be left green with envy;

and our first guest visual artist Rob David, who will provide the most-appropriate and/or inappropriate aesthetic background as this (hopefully bloodless, yet ferocious) fighting takes place.

The battlefields will resound with the glorious sound of trumpets and synthesizers come fighting’s end, as several Jesuses disguised as members of the Hood Gang stir up our victorious legions to dance and feast in sinfully delightful decadence till evenings end.

Join us for this unprecedented Cabaret sure to cause some kind of natural disaster come Monday morning.

The TypewriterGirls can teach you How to Avoid the Pitfalls of the Bohemian Lifestyle!

On October 16th ? Your Inner Vagabond

We will be addressing the issues of the three main categories of Bohemianism, as outlined by Murger in Scenes de la vie Boheme

  • Unknown Dreamers - amateur artists who do not seek publicity but expect it to come for them. They are poor and often die from poverty. Murger calls this way of life a “blind alley,” and says that their avoidance of fame works against them (xl).
  • Amateur - has a steady income but chooses to live in Bohemia for the fun of it. Once they have had their fill, they will return to the bourgeoisie.
  • Stalwart Official Bohemians - must be known as an artist to the wider world; though they are not making a lot of money, they are guided by ambition and are expected to soon be “making it” in the world of art. They known both how to be frugal and how to be extravagant and can fit in in squalor or luxury.
This will be conducted as a Cabaret Style Seminar in a poetic format with musical accompaniment on avoiding the pitfalls of the Bohemian Lifestyle. The TypewriterGirls will be earnestly treating this grave issue with all due amounts of seriousness by throwing a tasteful dance party afterward and buying only two bottles of cheap whiskey for whiskey trivia, as opposed to our usual three.
