The TypewriterGirls are returning to their roots and performing at their official birthplace–The Grand Midway Hotel in Windber, PA. Two years ago at KerouacFest 2006, Crystal, Margaret, and Julie put on the very first TypewriterGirl cabaret–now with six more shows under their belt, their ready to take on the hoards of old beatniks, unwashed bohemians, vagrant academics, unruly goths, and legions of rascly ghosts awating them.

The TypewriterGirls are decadent intellectuals with an uncanny penchant for monkey breeding. Descendants of the Cabaret Voltaire, their Dada-bred performances feature comedy, music, and poetry, and in the words of Comte de LautrĂ©amont, embody the concept that, “poetry must be made by all.”

I (Jason) received, via Myspace, the following email this morning -
“My name is Jacqueline Maylott, Editor of The Jeff Buckley International Newsletter … just was looking around on my space and came across you - we featured some of your poetry on the website at www. jeffbuckley. com and recently came across your video reading about Jeff …. was amazing …. We want to do a feature in the Jeff Buckley Newsletter and link to your video reading / tribute of Jeff … let me know if that would be possible. You can also reach me at newsletter@jeffbuckley.com Jeff’s mother, Mary, recently saw your video tribute on You Tube and wanted to feature it …Thanks Much !
Jaqui”
My response was obviously a resounding fuck yes! (Well, it was more formal than that) -
“Feature it where? I’m glad Mary got to see it - it meant a lot to me to get it done and performed. Jeff meant a lot to me as well. If you have a chance please send Mary my best and thank her for me. But yes - please! Feature it!”
Her response was -
“Hi Jason, Thank you much ! Also, would you happen to have a bio or any background info that we can use for the article? How did you hear of Jeff originally? Also, if you have any info you can give us - we can include it int he article - upcoming performance dates, etc …. it will publish in July. Thanks again so very much !!!
Jaqui”
So, the long and the short of it is that the fabulous Mr. Kirin’s peformance, recorded at The TypewriterGirls Present: Poetry With Manners, will be featured on JeffBuckley.com for all the month of July — and he got exactly the sort of response he’d hoped for with his tribute to Jeff Buckley.
Congratulations, Mr. Kirin! May we all strive to become the “Ted Nugent of Poetry”.
